SHORT BIOGRAPHY

 

Double bassist and composer from Madrid.  During the past years,  he has also  resided in Buenos Aires, Rome, Madrid and New York, where he has been dedicated to an intensive agenda of professional dissemination and the enrichment of his musical sensibilities in contemporary creation, jazz, flamenco, and creative music in addition to other disciplines. 

 

 Javier has studied in institutions such as New York University in New York (Master in Jazz Performance) and the Royal Conservatory of the Hague in Holland (Advanced Degree in Jazz) and received scholarships from Tete Montoliú (Spain), National Endowment for the Arts (USA),  Foundation Cajamadrid (Spain) the Banff Centre of Creative Arts (Canada) and Real Academia de España en Roma (Italy, AECID)

 

 

His professional career has been dedicated to various musical scenes within contemporary jazz, flamenco, and other musical genres, and he has collaborated with diverse artists such as, Gerald Cleaver,Tim Berne,  Dino Saluzzi, Tony Malaby Jeremy Pelt, Mat Maneri,  George Garzone, Craig Taborn, Greg Tardy,  Badal Roy, Carmen Linares, Agustín Carbonell "El Bola”, Javier Ruibal, Arcángel. Rycardo Moreno, and David Dorantes.

 

He has played on numerous international stages including: Sunset Sunside in Paris, Smalls in NYC, Iridium (NYC) Charles V Palace in Granada (Spain) , Utrech Auditórium (Holland), The National Auditorium in Madrid and ¨The Stone¨ in New York and performed in jazz festivals such as the San Sebastián Festival (Spain), the Spoletto Jazz Festival (USA), Buenos Aires Jazz Festival (Argentina), Monterrey Jazz Festival (Mexico)  Madrid Jazz Festival (Spain)New York Flamenco Festival (NYC), Mar del plata (Argentina), and the Toulouse Jazz Sur Son (France), Imago Festival (Slovenia). 

 

 He has five records as a leader (two with the Fresh Sound New Talent label)

 

His last creation as a multimedia leader: “Air and concert for nomads” it is a visual- poetic- concert, for those who are seeking permanently , never having the feeling of forever. It was released and recorded at Tempietto de Bramante in Rome with the support of the AECID (SPAIN)  and in the Bank of America at the Nuit Blanche of Washington DC, with the support of Nacional endowement for the arts (USA)
